Qualification Description

The qualification reflects the role of record and information consultants and managers who have a detailed understanding and specialist knowledge of business or records systems. They may provide strategic direction for business or records systems in large organisations with responsibility for a team. They may also be individuals with sole responsibility for business of records systems in smaller organisations.

Level: Strategic Focus

Record Coordinator/ Managers or Administration Managers or IT system administrators. This course is a very strategic focussed course and it assists participants in developing all of the main strategic documents required for your organisation to become compliant with Archives Acts, State records Acts and Australian and International Standards. The completion of this course is easier if you have already completed a Certificate IV or Diploma of Recordkeeping, but they are not a prerequisite. The course is very practical with all but 2 assignments that are producing documents that you will use in the workplace.  People holding this qualification are eligible to become a professional member of RIM Professionals Australasia.

Course Structure

A total of 8 units are to be undertaken for this qualification, comprising a minimum of 5 from the core recordkeeping units:

  • BSBRKG601 Define recordkeeping framework
  • BSBRKG603 Prepare a functional analysis for an organisation
  • BSBRKG604 Determine security and access rules and procedures
  • BSBRKG065 Determine a records requirements to document a function
  • BSBRKG606 Design a record retention and disposal schedule
  • BSBRKG607 Document and monitor the record-creating context
  • BSBRKG608 Plan management of records over time;

and:

  • The remaining 3 units can be selected from the elective list and include either or both or the remaining units from the recordkeeping group. If not claiming a credit from the Diploma level, one unit can be selected from the Diploma level not including any Diploma level units listed in this qualification description.
